Celebs at Cannes 2014 – Who Shone on the Red Carpet and Who Disappointed
24 May, 2014
Can’t take your eyes off the red carpet? The Cannes Film Festival 2014 has begun and it’s going to be a 12 days bonanza of fashion and glamour. Everybody is keeping a keen watch on A-listers and their extravagant designer garb, apart from appreciating some movies too!
Designer dresses by Roberto Cavalli, Altuzarra, Chanel, Versace, Christian Dior etc. were donned by celebs from different film fraternities with sparkling jewellery and eye-catching footwear. Some got it right while a few made the wrong choices. We take a look at the best dressed ladies first.
Nicole Kidman at Cannes Film Festival 2014
The elegant diva gave a stylish start to the fest when she arrived on the French Riviera for the photo call of her movie Grace of Monaco. Nicole looked effortlessly chic in an Altuzarra white midi dress cinched at the waist with a belt and featuring shoulder slits. She wore a matching pair of pumps by Lebanese stylist Elie Saab.
Carole Bouquet at Cannes Film Festival 2014
This French actress was the perfect epitome of grace. At 56, she knows what suits her. Carole wore a deep green pleated organza dress created by Chanel. Flat sandals were her choice of footwear in addition to gold and diamond jewels by Chanel again.
Paz Vega at Cannes Film Festival 2014
The Spanish beauty opted for a close-fitting outfit by Zuhair Murad. The blue dress had see-through detailing along the legs which looked stunning on Paz who has an enviable hour-glass figure. Shocking pink shoes by Christian Louboutin added the right dramatic effect to her ensemble. With short hair let loose, Paz wore delicate diamond jewellery.
There were some disappointments on the red carpet too!
Sharon Stone at Cannes Film Festival 2014
For a seductress like Sharon Stone, her outfit was certainly not the ideal dress, especially when we’ve seen her dazzle in splendid gowns before on the red carpet. Everything was improper about the short black dress by Emilio Pucci. The outfit was not apt for an event like Cannes and moreover, the gold accents looked garish.
Rosario Dawson at Cannes Film Festival 2014
There was nothing actually wrong with her choice of clothes – a blue gown – just that it didn’t make heads turn at all. Firstly, the navy blue Vionnet dress was quite tight and secondly the tacky fishnet neckline completely ruined the outfit. Besides, she paid little attention to other styling areas such as hairdo and ornaments.
The Cannes Film Festival is one of the most anticipated happenings of the year. It gives A-listers the opportunity to strut in expensive premium designer attire and at the same time offers scoops for fashion critics to write about. No wonder that celebrities pay the greatest attention to their outfits!
